HYDRAULIC DESIGN OF STORM WATER DETENTION BASIN
In this paper, the modified rational method and unit hydrograph method which are commonly adopted for sizing storm water detention basins in todays engineering practices are presented in summary form and commented. Important hydraulic properties of a water detention basin are reviewed. For more accurate and realistic results, reservoir routine method using the inflow hydrograph derived from unit graph is recommended. To reduce work load involved in reservoir flow routine, a simple and versatile new graphical techniques is developed by this author and also presented herein.
