DESIGN OF SEDIMENT-TRANSPORTING PIPELINE. DISCUSSIONS AND CLOSURE
Two discussions of a technical note with the aforementioned title by Prabhata K. Swamee, published in this journal (Volume 121, Number 1, January 1995), are presented. Discusser Nakae points out that the constant 81 occurring in the Durand equation is an average value of K, which is a function of the grain shape and the size distribution. Discussers Shook and Wilson offer additional literature on the resistance equation on slurry-transport. Discussions are followed by closure from the author.
