HOW POLICE CAN SET UP CONSTITUTIONAL ROADBLOCKS
This article is a guide for law enforcement officials in setting up constitutional roadblocks. The United States Supreme Court has ruled that roadblocks are constitutional if appropriately planned and constructed. The roadblock must be based on a systematic structure that secures neutrality and limits individual discretion of the officers at the scene. Several cases and rulings are presented as examples of constitutional and unconstitutional roadblocks.
