HOW TO IMPROVE PARKING-LOT SAFETY
Parking lot and garage safety is the subject of this article, which offers suggestions for improved safety at these facilities. Improved lighting is a primary safety feature; others include security patrols, glass-enclosed elevators and stairwells, audio and visual surveillance equipment at entrances and exits, more visible signage, and public education programs. Violent crimes have all but been eliminated in cities that employ higher design standards for parking facilities, and theft and vandalism have been significantly reduced. Common sense safety tips for drivers to increase their personal safety in parking areas are included in a sidebar.
