CYCLIC AXIAL LOADING OF DRILLED SHAFTS IN COHESIVE SOIL. DISCUSSIONS AND CLOSURE
Two discussions of a paper with the aforementioned title by McManus and Kulhawy, published in this journal (Volume 120, Number 9, September 1994), are presented. In the first discussion, Ghaly and Hanna express interest in comparing the theoretical values of overconsolidation ratio (OCR) for the soil deposits and the actual values. Discussers Ghaly and Hanna also ask for an explanation of the rationale used in selecting the applied rates of loading used for the model drilled shaft load tests. In the second discussion, Prasad provides additional data confirming the authors' findings and asks if the authors observed any changes in pore-water pressures during their tests in low OCR soil deposits under one-way cyclic loading. Discussions are followed by closure from the authors.
