U.K. INTERNATIONAL TRADE 1980-85
The development of North Sea oil reserves and the consequential drop in imports is likely to lead to a very small increase in the U.K.'s international trade by 1980. This is the conclusion of a report produced by the National Ports Council (NPC) which sets out to forecast the growth of the U.K.'s foreign trade up to 1985. The report is specifically designed for the port transport industry, giving indications of export and import tonnage flows, their overseas direction and the nature of commodity involved. It aims to give the overall tonnage movement linked to the direction and flow and type of commodity moving so that some idea can be obtained of where best to locate suitable port facilities.
