INTERMODALISM AND BICYCLES
Reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, and decreasing energy consumption are national goals. In addition, mass transit systems are being challenged to provide more cost-effective and efficient services to larger areas. These priorities highlight the need to plan, design, and establish an intermodal surface transportation system. As a low-cost, energy efficient, and environmentally responsible mode of transportation, bicycles can be a vital link in an intermodal network.
