DEVELOPMENT WORK MEETS CHALLENGES
Rail transportation has entered the era of the high capacity railway: high speeds, heavy axleloads, high line occupation. Track maintenance for modern high-capacity railways must therefore cope with these circumstances and the machine builder is faced with tough challenges. The high traffic volume means that track maintenance machines have to make optimum use of short track possession, with implications for the work rate of equipment and the scope of work to be performed; the machines must also be able to travel quickly and be ready for operation in the shortest possible time.
