During the past 30 years the use of arc stud welding has become wide spread in modern industry. Growth and acceptance of the stud welding process have been brought about the proper selection of the various available stud welding process techniques, the development of high speed production equipment, the availability of a wide range of stud welding equipment and the development of specialized equipment for specific applications. This report discusses the different stud welding process techniques, their advantages and limitations; and the state-of-the-art of power sources, controls, arc shields, specialized equipment, etc.
