THE INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER AS PROJECT MANAGER AND SUPERVISOR FOR SMALL SHIP CONSTRUCTION
This paper discusses typical aspects of small ship construction and how independent professional engineers can be used to good effect by shipyards as well as owners. Where relevant, the author describes his perception of the differences between normal merchant ship construction and small ship projects. The final section proposes that greater use be made of group practice amongst the growing ranks of independent professional engineers.
