SHORT TERM STATISTICS OF EXTREME LOAD EFFECTS
This paper provides a short term statistical description of extreme load effects including ringing acting on a TLP tether. The statistics are established from model test data for the Heidrun TLP carried out in April 1993. A sub-set of the model test data containing six ~ 3hr time series of the total tether tension in a diagonal direction of the waves relative to the TLP are analyzed as one record. The total tether tension considered corresponds to an extreme 100 year design sea state. The extreme value distribution estimated will include inherent and statistical uncertainty for the total load effect while measurement and model uncertainties are ignored.
