SEA TRAFFIC CONTROL?

The increasing number and size of ships serving busy ports and transitting environmentally sensitive areas has led to a greater use of vessel traffic systems (VTS). Although VTS is not yet the marine version of air traffic control, much of its hardware has been developed from the aviation industry. The article looks at some of the VTS systems available.
