HEIDRUN TANKERS ON LINE

Three shuttle tankers ordered to serve the Heidrun field in the northern part of the North Sea are the first newbuildings to have submerged turret loading equipment installed and are also the largest tankers to employ diesel-electric propulsion plants. All three ships were delivered earlier this year and have been employed by Statoil in the North Sea and on field tests. Conoco Shipping's 125 800 dwt HEIDRUN was built by Samsung in South Korea and is on charter to Statoil, which owns the other two tankers. A profile drawing of HEIDRUN is included in the article.
