APPLICATIONS OF SPECTRAL FATIGUE ANALYSIS TO THE ARCO 190 MDWT TANKERS
A US shipowner has strengthed its response to structural fracturing in its tankers with the development of an analytical procedure for determining the fatigue resistance of critical details. This paper gives a brief summary of some of the causes of fatigue fracturing in TAPS tankers, the extent and type of fractures observed and a description of the fatigue analysis procedure and its application to typical details in one class of tanker.
