REPLACEMENT OR RE-BATTERY

The SOLAS regulation on lifejacket lights has been in effect since 1991. Next year marks the end of the shelf life period for their light power sources. Vessel owners will be faced with a decision to replace the batteries or the entire light. Although the former may be the most economical choice, the latter must be considered if the flag nation's requirements are subject to change.
