ESTIMATING RELATIVE SPEED WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT
HET SCHATTEN VAN RELATIVE SNELHEID BIJ HET NACHTRIJDEN
The author discusses the problem that a driver at night has only two cues, according to which he has to judge his speed against that of the car in front: the angle between the rear lights and their intensity. Experiments lead to the conclusion that a driver who wishes to increase his speed is prone to choose too high a speed than appropriate, which brings about dangerous situations. /TRRL/
