SOME NOTES ON SIGNIFICANCE OF FORM IN BRIDGE ENGINEERING
The paper attempts to analyse the thought processes associated with the creation and selection of form in bridge design, illustrated by practical cases covering mainly small to medium size bridges; although these may not be spectacular, they form the bulk of bridgeworks in Britain and as such have considerable impact on the environment and thus on the community at large. The illustrative examples are drawn from some of the bridgeworks constructed within the designated area of the new town of Cumbernauld since 1958. /TRRL/
