OPERATIONAL STABILITY AND ON-BOARD COMPUTER
Shipboard facilities providing safeguards against capsizing are discussed including: ship stability monitoring using shipboard PC with load calculators; expert systems used for the prediction and diagnostics of seakeeping performance and selection of safe sailing conditions; a means for monitoring actual stability of a ship as part of an integrated ship control system; and requirements for ship stability in operating conditions (criteria and operational software for shipmasters).
