SEAFARER STANDARDS TO BE REVISED
The highest priority on the work program of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) today is the revision of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 (STCW). A primary reason for this revision is the concern that the predominant cause of maritime casualties is human error. The article reviews the proposed STCW revisions.
