LPG CARRIER LIFE EXTENSION
The reasons for an owner's decision to upgrade an LPG carrier are considered. To determine the actual condition of a vessel is proposed that the ship's owner or operator carries out an on-board inspection resulting in a report independent of the shipyard which will carry out the job eventually. Planning of repair logistics, placing an order and organization and coordination of a repair project are discussed. To indicate some main details concerning repair/renewal, an overview is given of a "life extension job" carried out on a vessel built in 1973, with a cargo capacity of 2500 m3.
