THE SHAPE OF PIPELAY BARGES: DESIGN OF THE BARGE AND CONTROL OF STRESSES ON THE PIPELINE DURING LAYING OPERATIONS

The paper presents a design method for a pipelaying barge which optimizes the characteristics of the barge in accordance with the conditions of a particular operational area. Also presented is a tool which could be the basis of an operating manual enabling personnel to adequately operate and minimize the stresses on the pipeline during installation under different conditions.
