GENERAL SOLUTION FOR AXISYMMETRIC DEFORMATIONS OF MODERATELY SLENDER TOROIDAL SHELLS
In order to investigate the use of toroidal shells in ocean engineering and ship structures, a general perturbation solution is suggested in terms of small parameter alpha = a/ R for the equation of toroidal shells given by Novozhilov. The expressions of first-order and second-order terms in the expansions of the solution are given in this paper. The solution is applicable to slender and moderately slender toroidal shells of which the parameter alpha is a small number.
