A REVIEW OF THE COST OF ROAD ACCIDENTS IN RELATION TO ROAD SAFETY

This report consists of 4 main chapters. In chapter 1, estimates of accident costs for Australia in 1969 are made. The major components of cost are as follows: vehicle repairs and loss of value, injury costs, fatality costs, police and court costs, insurance administration, and legal costs. These estimates form the basis of the analysis presented in Chapter 2. Chapter 3 presents a review of existing accident cost studies in various countries, and chapter 4 consists of a selected annotated bibliography. /TRRL/
