MOTOR-VEHICLE LIGHTING DURING DAYTIME. A REPORT OF THE INTERNATIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE ON THE JUSTIFICATION OF NEW EXPERIMENTS IN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
The first meeting of the International Steering Committee on motor vehicle lighting during daytime was held on October 10, 1990, in Brussels. The first task of the Committee was to review and evaluate existing evidence on the effectiveness of daytime running lights (DRL) and to review and evaluate the design and results of new research on DRL, especially in the Netherlands, Denmark, Canada and Austria. After giving a short review of the problems related to motor vehicle lighting during daytime, this report describes the considerations of the members of the Committee regarding this first task, followed by the overall conclusion of the Committee.
