DETERMINING THE WIDTH OF RESIDENTIAL STREETS
Based on the measures of standard vehicles four types of residential streets for different types of vehicle meetings were developed,of which the width of roadway differs about 75 cm respectively. The correlations between the number of vehicle meetings and traffic generation, which were found theoretically and empirically, make it possible to use the frequency of meetings as a criterion for designing residential streets, which give access to only a small number of dwellings. The fields of application defined on the basis of the frequency of vehicle meetings are similar to those recommended by the corresponding German standards for nearly comparable types of residential streets.
