A RAPID METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE THRUST ON RETAINING WALLS, BY MEANS OF A GENERALISATION OF THE COULOMB THEORY
UN PROCEDIMENTO RAPIDO PER LA DETERMINAZIONE DELLA SPINTA SUI MURI DI SOSTENGO MEDIANTE UNA GENERALIZZAZIONE DELLA TEORIA DEL COULOMB
The results of an analysis of the Coulomb theory are applied to various cases occurring in practice, for different conformations of the extrados and diverse positions of the overburden. To facilitate the application of the procedure described, certain thrust coefficients are calculated, which allow the rapid resolution of the more common retaining wall problems. An analysis is given of the distribution of the pressures at the back of retaining walls, taking into account the possible discontinuity of the extrados. /TRRL/
