WIDE SPANS
STORA SPAENNVIDDER
This article gives a description of different ways of achieving wide spans in roof and bridge structures. Beams, arches, skin structures, space frames, domes and cable structures are examples with maximum spans ranging today from 107 M to 1298 M. A number of structures are described including some not yet realized. An attempt to estimate theoretical maximum span is made for each of the various types of structures. /TRRL/
