WINTER ROAD MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT
VINTERVAEGHAALLNINGEN OCH MASKINERNA
A review is presented of equipment necessary for snow clearance and sanding. Interviews were made with experts and people responsible for winter maintenance of roads and industrial estates. There is an obvious trend towards maintaining a relatively small stock of equipment supplemented with hired equipment and drivers when needed. Another trend is towards less specialized vehicles which can be fitted out with various additional equipment. Tractors provided with both a one-way plough and a sanding device is an example of an economically favourable solution which also reduces noise. Other examples are collapsible ploughshares, cutting edges of rubber and a so called uniroad plough which can be changed over from a one-way plough into a v-type plough or vice versa. /TRRL/
