HUNT LOGISTICS' DEDICATION TO DELIVERING SAVINGS
Although business was booming for Mark III Industries--the nation's largest luxury converter of vans, pickup trucks, and sport utility vehicles--the company had monumental outbound distribution problems. J.B. Hunt Transport was persuaded by Mark III to handle some of the hauling and Hunt quickly erased their 300-unit backlog and organized their shipping operation. Based on Hunt's performance, Mark III allowed Hunt's logistics division to manage all outbound shipments. This article explains the outbound shipping process that Hunt established for Mark III and the cost savings that have been realized. Reducing out-of-route miles and damage claims have saved Mark III approximately $1 million since 1993.
