PARKING MODELS IN TRANSPORTATION PLANNING
The various models currently used to describe parking characteristics are considered. These include: models of parking related to stages in transportation planning (trip end and flow capacity balancing, distribution and modal split); and restraint studies including parking models (TRRL transport planning system rrltap). The main areas of concern are said to be those of compatibility of evaluation and forecasting of parking aspects of travel in a wider transportation planning framework. It is thought that the greatest stimulus for improvement will come as a result of the increasing use of parking measures to complement or replace other traffic restraint policies. /TRRL/
