TECHNICAL HANDBOOK--RUBBER EXPANSION JOINTS AND FLEXIBLE RUBBER PIPE CONNECTORS
While the rubber expansion joint industry has contributed in a major way to the technological advances in piping systems, designers and contractors relied on dimensional and application data furnished on inquiry or appearing in product literature published by individual manufacturers. This handbook, a first attempt of the industry, is a compilation of standards of construction and a guide for specifying and purchasing non-metallic expansion joints. This handbook is the result of more than two years of research and many technical sessions of engineering personnel associated with the member companies of the Rubber Expansion Joint Division of the Fluid Sealing Association. The purpose of this publication is to provide a handy reference to the engineers whose daily concern is designing piping systems and overseeing installations. No portion of this handbook attempts to establish dictates in modern piping design. Instead, it is an effort to provide pertinent information and factual data, accumulated over many years of experience in design and application of rubber expansion joints, to aid engineers and installers in achieving the best possible piping layout with problems as near zero as possible.
