DETERMINATION OF SLAG AND PULVERIZED FUEL ASH IN HARDENED CONCRETE--THE METHOD OF LAST RESORT REVISITED
This paper reviews the standard United Kingdom procedure for the determination of cement content of hardened concrete. Special problems associated with determining the cement content and the amount of mineral admixture in concrete are discussed. The method described employs a total analysis of the concrete and control samples of the cement, aggregates, and mineral admixture. The analytical results are studied by the application of a simultaneous equation mathematical approach to derive the content of the individual components. A case history demonstrates the application of the method.
