THE GILLINGE DRIVERS' TRAINING TRACK
GILLINGE TRAFIKOEVNINGSPLATS
Brief details are given of a newly built training track near Stockholm. The track is mainly meant for learners, but qualified drivers can also practise there during weekends. From a control tower the driving is supervised by teachers who can advise their pupils by radio. Except for driving on extremely slippery roads, manoeuvring skill can be practised on a special technique yard or on a so called cross-country track with a maximum pitch of 15%. To achieve the desired low friction, road surfaces of special bitumen are sprinkled with water. Lay-out of the track, buildings for theoretical education, and staff organisation are also described. /TRRL/
