CHINA'S SLOWER PACE IS FASTER THAN MOST
The international construction market is focused on China, where modernization is a priority for a government that is sorely in need of basic infrastructure. This article reports that although construction has slowed slightly, development will continue for some time. This article explains the Chinese system of state-run construction projects in which various ministries plan and then assign work to construction companies. Some of the current projects highlighted include the Ertan Dam, Pudong's business district, and wastewater treatment plants at Dianchi Lake. Environmental issues are addressed.
