UTILIZATION OF E CODES TO DEFINE MOTOR VEHICLE RELATED TRAUMA
ICD-9 External Cause of Injury Codes (E Codes) are mandatory for patients with documented injuries between ICD 800-999 admitted to acute care hospitals in the province of Ontario. This scientific poster presentation states that mandatory E coding permits identification of trauma cases in a hospital database which facilitates tabular and graphical reporting on a regional and provincial basis on motor vehicle collisions.
