1996 REGIONAL/COMMUTER RAIL PLANNER'S GUIDE
This year's Regional/Commuter Rail Planner's Guide contains two reports. The first, titled 'New York Builds for the 21st Century', recognizes that the New York metropolitan area represents the dominant market for North American regional passenger rail. The region is now looking ahead to 21st century needs for still greater capacity and improved access and mobility, and is beginning to plan toward developing a true regional rail transportation system in ways that it never has before. The second part of the Guide, 'Regional/Commuter Rail: Vancouver Heads the New-Start List', briefly discusses several new starts in North America. In addition to Vancouver, covered are the following systems: Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), Burlington VT, Wilmington DE, Cleveland OH, St.Louis, and San Francisco Bay Area, among others.
