STREET PLANNING IN THE CENTRE OF YLISTARO FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF THE LOCAL RESIDENTS

YLISTARON KESKUSTAN TEIDEN SUUNNITTELU ASUKKAIDEN NAKOKULMASTA

The purpose of this study was to gather information about the local residents opinions and attitudes regarding road planning in their neighborhood.The study was carried out as a case study in a small town in Finland. The inhabitants of the town centre were interviewed and questionnaires were sent to them concerning a project of restructuring the streets in the centre. It was found that most people were informed about the plan. The planning process remained unclear to them. They hoped to get more information about alternative plans at an early stage in order to be able to compare them and express their opinions.
