ARTIFICIAL AGGREGATES FOR CONCRETE
This current practice sheet gives a list of a range of materials which can be used as an alternative to natural aggregates in concrete. All of the materials described here have been used experimentally and for under full-scale conditions, the degree of use varying from extremely limited to quite widespread. Relevant properties of the materials are tabulated, and reference is made to the appropriate British standards. Materials discussed are: lightweight aggregates, colliery waste, slate waste, peat, crushed brick and concrete, glass waste, incinerator ash, wood waste, granulated blast furnace slag and pulverized fuel ash. Additional copies of this current practice sheet are obtainable from: Publications Orders, Cement and Concrete Association, Wexham Springs, Slough S13 6 PL, England at a cost of 10p per sheet. /TRRL/
