INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS COMMUNICATIONS: A REVIEW OF THE TRB COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE WORKSHOPS
In recent years, the Communications Committee of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) has conducted a series of four workshops that have focused on the communication requirements for intelligent transportation systems (ITS). These workshops have identified a number of research needs, operational test requirements, and some standards and protocol requirements that would lead to an improved understanding of communication applications across the 28 user services as defined by the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) in its draft National Program Plan. Also an outcome of these workshops was a thorough, if not exhaustive, examination of the electromagnetic-spectrum requirements for applications of communications in ITS.
