THE PREDICTION OF ROAD TRAFFIC NOISE
A description is presented of investigations into the assessment of noise levels associated with highway schemes using a computer based traffic assignment model which has been extended to provide assessment of noise from various traffic levels on different road networks. Parameters used include traffic volume, traffic speed, volume of heavy goods vehicles, type of building, distance of building from the road, and the mean occupancy rate per building. In addition, it is possible to specify elevated road, retained cut, barriers, angle of vision, and ground surface for the different groups of dwellings.
