RATING OF CONCRETE PAVEMENTS ON HIGHWAYS AND AIRPORTS

BEOORDELING VAN BETONVERHARDINGEN OP WEGEN EN VLIEGVELDEN

A rating method for concrete pavements based on tests that require only simple and easily manageable apparatus and few staff was developed. The procedure includes the following stages: (1) general qualification by visual examination and some quick tests; (2) more detailed testing, the results of which serve partly as an input to the calculation program and are, for another part, required for the determination of the structure's strength and the maximum load; (3) execution of a calculation program based on Hogg's and Holl's theory, a link being made with Westergaard's theories; (4) final rating of the pavement with the aid of the results obtained from the preceding stages. /TRRL/
