A METHOD AND PROGRAM FOR DETERMINING NAVAL POWER STATION GENERATOR CAPACITIES

The paper describes and attempts to advance a statistic- probabilistic method and a computer program to evaluate generator power in a ship power plant (SPP). Unlike the conventional methods usually employing load tables, this method is much better both in terms of accuracy and economic efficiency. Such a method is possible due to the fact that the total required power is and therefore can be regarded as a stationary aleatory and ergodic process. Here the SPP load curve is obtained by numerical simulation since said curve is a sum of aleatory - component time-series. The time series are randomized by means of a Monte-Carlo type method. The selection obtained from the load curve is checked for normality by applying such criteria as HI-SQUARE, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Pearson. The SPP generator power is determined for various significance thresholds. Both the method and the program have been validated on various types of sea-going vessels.
