MINE RECONNAISSANCE UNMANNED UNDERWATER VEHICLE

A self powered unmanned underwater vehicle outfitted with forward looking, side scan sonar and laser imaging systems will provide a highly effective clandestine mine survey capability. This paper describes a two year funded mission analysis and system engineering study which culminated in a successful demonstration of a near coastal mine search survey in 1993.
