THE EVASIVE ACTION DECISION IN AN INTERSECTION ACCIDENT: A GRAME THEORY APPROACH
Automobile accidents at cross-intersections consititute a large subset of all traffic crashes. Many of the crashes are right-angle collisions, the involved vehicles having approached from orthogonal directions. Although "fault" for initiating the accident sequency may easily be assigned, this does not always ensure that the resulting accident was inevitable; that is, by performing some evasive action, the drivers might have avoided the crash. Games theory provides a unique tool for determining good strategies that will avoid an accident or minimize the severity of the resulting crash. /Author/
