LIFE EXTENSION AND LENGTHENING FOR THE RFA'S SIR BEDIVERE
Work started in November 1994 at the Rosyth Royal Dockyard, UK, on the 40 million ship life extension and lengthening programme of the UK Royal Fleet Auxiliary logistics landing ship SIR BEDIVERE. The programme will include replacing the aluminium superstructure with a new steel structure, updating the aviation capability for Sea King/EH101 helicopters on the vehicle deck, and extensive replacement of mild steel plating with notch-tough steel for cold climate operations.
