BENT BLADE TIP KAPPEL CONCEPT OFFERS PROMISING EFFICIENCY GAINS

A new propeller design called the Kappel propeller incorporates a form of winglet integrated into the blade geometry by adapting the rake at the blade tip. Model experiments and numerical analyses are said to have revealed efficiency gains of 3% and power savings of 5% compared against other more conventional propeller designs.
