LOCALIZED CORROSION IN THE FLANGE AND CASING OF A SUBMERGED CARGO PUMP
After three months in service the flange and casing of a submerged cargo pump failed due to severe pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion damage. Both components were made of a cast stainless steel reference SCS 14. The susceptibility of SCS 14 to localized corrosion is discussed.
