ON THE TENSION OF OSCILLATING TOWLINE IN CURRENT
The authors have investigated oscillating towline behaviour in still water, experimentally and theoretically, however, there are few experiments concerning this problem in a current. This paper deals with the forced oscillation test in a current to validate the assumption. A sway oscillation test and a surge oscillation test was carried out to investigate dynamic towline tension. The low frequency oscillation mode superposed on the high frequency oscillation mode was tested taking into consideration the slow drift motion in waves. A comparison was made with theoretical calculations using the three dimensional Lumped Mass Method.
