IN SITU SOILS MEASURING DEVICES
Soils engineering is as much art as science - mostly because techniques for measuring soil parameters leave much in the realm of estimation. Developing instrumentation practices and equipment are improving the odds, however. The trend is toward in situ measurements, so here is a roundup of equipment and procedures that help soils engineering. Although new instruments are coming on the market, most are simly improvements on old techniques. There are areas where new equipment and techniques would be most welcome. ;ASCE;
