THE SYSTEMATIC TEST OF WEDGE ON FLAT PLATE PLANING SURFACE
In this paper, it is assumed that the wedge under a planing surface can be developed into an independent and low aspect ratio 2-D flat plate which runs at a trim angle of its deflection angle. Accordingly, a box form, flat bottom model and wedged model were both tested. The range flap deflection angle of tests covered; wetted length beam ratio = 2, 3, 4, trim angle = 40, 60, 80, 100. Flap length beam ratio F = 0.1m 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and the added lift, drag, moment coefficient CL, CD, CM were measured. Comparison with different formulas shows that when Brown's at F = 0.1m 0.3, 0.4, the Wang's meets F = 0.1 and the Chen's under F = 3, 4, these formulas fail.
